The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) recently published the World Intellectual Property Indicators report 2018, which shows the global demand for IP tools in 2017 (see https://www.wipo.int/edocs/pubdocs/en/wipo_pub_941_2018.pdf).
Some of the statistics provided by WIPO concerning trademark activities in Turkey in 2017 are as follows[i]:
The Turkish Patent and Trademark Office was the 9th most active national office in terms of the number of trademark applications (class count)[ii].
In Turkey, business services topped the list of industry sectors, accounting for 21% of all trademark filing activity. Agriculture was the second highest sector accounting for 17% of all trademark filing activity while research and technology ranked third accounting for 11% of all trademark filing activity.
In 2017, the number of trademark registrations in force in Turkey was 945,154 (class count), indicating an annual growth rate of 9.4%.
The number of trademark applications (class count) submitted in Turkey was 247,474, indicating an annual growth rate of 8.9%.
The non-resident share in trademark applications (class count) in Turkey was 13%.
