Trademark Renewals in Turkey
Need to renew your trademark in Turkey? This article outlines key deadlines, grace periods, and renewal options—including both online self-service and attorney-assisted solutions.
Protection Term and Renewal Obligation
Registered trademarks in Turkey are protected for 10 years from the filing date. This term can be renewed indefinitely in 10-year periods. To maintain the rights, a renewal request must be submitted and the renewal fee must be paid.
Renewal Deadlines
The renewal request must be submitted within 6 months prior to the expiry of the trademark registration.
If not renewed by the expiry date, a 6-month grace period applies for late renewal with a surcharge.
Failure to Renew
If the renewal is not completed within the 6-month grace period, the trademark registration expires. Rights cannot be restored once the grace period has lapsed.
Applicable Fee Schedule
Renewal fees must be paid in the year they become due, based on the official fee schedule published for that year. Early payment based on previous years’ fees is not accepted.
